729 - Battle Taichi is a traditional tacky rubber from 729, but with a two-layer sponge. A harder and a softer layer to provide a difference in performance compared to other rubbers. For example 37/40deg has a layer of 37deg sponge closest to the surface layer and a harder 40deg towards the body. This gives a hard, fast rubber with a softer feel in the shorter game, as well as easier to handle shots like slow brush loops as the ball gets more time in the rubber and sinks a little further. Due to the double sponge, Battle Taichi cannot yet be used in international competitions.
Explanation of sponge hardness
37/39: 37deg (IN) closest to the top sheet and 40deg (OUT) closest to the blade
