As one of the few brands worldwide, PiMPLEPARK has focused from its inception on developing table tennis rubbers and blades that harmonize perfectly with the plastic ball . With the Filius , the German brand's third blade has been successfully brought from concept to final implementation and market readiness.
Filius comes from Latin and means "son ." And behind this name lies a clear product idea from the developers at PiMPLEPARK: Filius is, so to speak, the son of the also available Castro . The goal was to develop a slower variant for true defensive strategists, alongside the somewhat more offensive, nine-ply defensive Castro . And thus, the idea of Filius as the son of Castro was born.
The Filius is entirely handcrafted in Germany with the highest level of craftsmanship . It is a five-ply solid wood blade , and due to its defensive design, the use of additional materials has been deliberately omitted. The blade has been slightly enlarged to suit classic defensive players. Nevertheless, care was taken to ensure the blade weighs no more than approximately 80g . It is available with straight or concave handles.
The veneer structure in detail:
The Filius was specifically designed for the defensively oriented player :
The Filius is therefore the slowest blade in PiMPLEPARK's current range compared to the Castro and Murus , and is thus clearly aimed at players who wait for their opponents' mistakes and only occasionally score points themselves. Players who prioritize safety above all else will find this blade perfect!
